Our hostess examines the goods
The shopping begins
Everyone left with at least one thing that they love – success.

Our clothing swap happened Friday.  We weren’t exactly sure how many women would show up but I think we finally ended up with around 15 people.  It was a good number and considering the space, we could have had about five more before it became uncomfortable.  I guess that is the key:  knowing your space.

I thought it went really well and everyone, despite not knowing each other, seemed to really have fun.  There was plenty of wine and appetizers to go around and it ended up being a nice party that happened to have free shopping involved.  A win-win for everyone.

A bit of work for the hostess in setting up and donating the leftovers, I think enlisting a co-host is the way to go (insert me).  We decided to go by birth date and starting with January, groups of women in 3-4 people had 10 minutes to pick out one thing.  When we got to December we went backwards so the next round started with the last group and in that round you could pick out about 3 items each.  The third round is a free for all and you can take whatever is left.  I think it worked well and seemed fair enough.

I found a few things that might work but my one big find was a  100% soft wool Talbots wrap in a dark grey color that had never been used.  It is perfect for sitting outside on cool Wisconsin summer nights.  I wasn’t looking to stock my closet anyway, I was just happy to get rid of some stuff and see how this swap thing would work.  I’m excited to possibly set up a toy swap, possibly a book swap or a home decor swap down the road.

Good stuff.
